ELISABETH TUPMAN
DOUBLE KNEE REPLACEMENT
“I initially chose to go abroad for my Operation Abroad after receiving their information and after finding out how friendly the staff there were. I could not wait in pain any longer. My quality of life was terrible. I was concerned about going abroad, what would the hospitals be like? Would the staff speak English? However the staff reassured me that I would never have seen a hospital like it and that all the staff spoke fluent English, so I decided to go ahead and booked for myself and my friend to go to the St James Hospital in Malta for 3 weeks for a knee replacement. The girls were right, the hospital was lovely, I was greeted and made to feel welcome immediately. The hospital staff spoke fluent English and nothing was too much trouble for them. I have never seen such a clean hospital in my life. I decided whilst I was there that I may as well have both knees replaced rather than just the one, so I had a double knee replacement performed. Afterwards the surgeon and head doctor visited me daily during my stay and showed how much they cared. The hotel where my friend stayed whilst I was in hospital was next door and that was beautiful also and so handy for visiting me. The girls delivered everything that they said they would as did the St James Hospital. They delivered first class service from my initial enquiry. They gave me every bit of information, such as who would operate, exact details of the hotel and the hospital and even contacts for during my stay in Malta. I have now totally recovered from the operation and it is like I can live a normal life again. I am now not stuck in the house and can finally drive again. The whole experience was superb from start to finish.”
ANNE SLATER
ABDOMINOPLASTY & BREAST REDUCTION
“I am more than pleased. I have had no problems since my operation was performed in Malta. I decided after losing weight that it was time to take the plunge and have a Breast Reduction and Tummy Tuck.
I initially chose to go to Malta due to the choice and high standard of hospitals and that as a total package price it was cheaper to go to Malta than have the operation in the UK and also that they organised everything for me such as travel, accommodation etc.
I travelled alone so I was a bit nervous but the assurance and security that they gave me alleviated any concerns I had. They were very professional in handling everything but were reassuring at the same time.
My main reasons for choosing to go abroad were as it was cheaper, cleaner, there is no MRSA at the St James Hospital, and I also wanted to have a holiday at the same time as having my operation.
Everybody made me feel special right from the start from Ruth and Suzanne, to the staff at the St James Hospital, Kevin who looked after me during my stay in Malta and of course my surgeon Dr Darmanin who was lovely. He was approachable, charming, thorough and explained everything to me.
The hospital was exceptional. All the staff were very pleasant and attentive to my needs. The nursing staff were so caring and very helpful. My hospital room was clean with a cheerful décor. The food was even good and I had a TV / Radio in my room. The aftercare following my operation was also excellent.
I stayed in the hotel next door to the hospital for most of my stay and it was superb. The rooms were lovely and the food was exceptional. In fact the hotel and the hospital are superbly located as they are next door to each other and are very close to the sea front, shops, beach etc.
I would tell anybody who needs an operation, as your health is so very important, don’t wait any longer, just go for it”.
MARY MAGSON
MARY MOTHER OF 3 TRAVELLED TO MALTA FOR A DOUBLE KNEE REPLACEMENT AFTER BEING REFUSED HER OPERATION BY THE NHS
“My daughter found the company on the internet, I was desperate and in pain as I could barely walk and had been told to lose weight by the NHS, how are you supposed to do that when you can’t walk? The literature all seemed fine so I booked and It took just over a week to organize. I was travelling alone as I didn’t want to put my family so was a little nervous. Luckily Suzanne planned on going to Malta that week so she tied the flights in together, picked me up from home a 2 ½ hour drive away from her house and took me to Manchester airport and we travelled together. The hospital was amazing so clean and the staff were all English speaking, some of them were English! I had a lovely private hospital room with a sea view nothing like the UK hospitals. The operation went really well, the physiotherapy was really intensive. I actually walked off the plane on my return journey no-one could believe it. I feel like I’ve got my life back, What can I say about the wonderful Suzanne, I couldn’t have done it without her, I know we will be friends for life.”
GRAHAM WHETTAM
CLASSICAL MUSIC COMPOSER WENT TO MALTA FOR HIS NEW HIP
Mrs Whettam arranged for her husband Graham, 79, to go to Malta for his hip replacement so he did not have to endure lengthy NHS waiting lists and also as they were both very worried about the increasing levels of MRSA and other infections within UK hospitals.
“I decided to take my husband to Malta, booking the hip replacement package, because of a worrying deterioration in his health in addition to the incapacitating pain of a “rotten hip”. I felt he could not wait the five months proposed for an NHS operation. I booked an extra week in Malta because of my concerns and anticipated need for more time.
After spending the first night in the hotel the day was spent in the hospital next door having tests and x-rays. Eventually the consultant cardiologist was called in because of concerns by the anaesthetist and the orthopaedic consultant and the operation was postponed. My husband then had a week of intensive treatment – all unplanned – and the operation was performed after his body was deemed to be ‘in balance’ just nine days later. The operation has been a success and he is learning to walk again as is normal after this operation. He is also a much healthier person thanks to the first class emergency/preparatory treatment he received at St James Hospital Sliema, Malta. As I had booked the extra week we returned to UK on the date originally planned. Going to Malta for the operation was the best decision I have ever made.
My feelings about the trip to Malta are that we have been so very fortunate and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity offered. I hope all continues to go well with your superb organisation.”
BRENDA GREY
BRENDA CHOSE MALTA FOR HER DOUBLE KNEE REPLACEMENT TO AVOID MRSA & TO SAVE MONEY COMPARED TO UK PRIVATE HEALTHCARE PRICES
Mrs Grey, 62, needed both knees replacing. She chose Malta as she found it to be excellent value for money and also as it is much safer as there is no MRSA. Her comments upon her return to the UK were:-
“From the initial enquiry about having a double knee replacement the staff were extremely helpful and very courteous. Both my husband and I were very impressed with all the services that were given to us, including a first class consultant, Anaesthetist, nursing staff and all the others involved in our stay at the St James Hospital in Sliema, Malta. I would recommend this hospital for it’s cleanliness and impressive care and attention including good food which I received after my very successful operation. From our point of view it was money well spent”.

JEFFREY WILLIS
JEFFREY, 54 HIP REPLACEMENT
“I would like thank you and all of the people involved with your company for the excellent service which I received when recently travelling abroad to Malta for a hip replacement operation .From the first contact with you till arriving home the service was first class. After being transported to the airport and the flight to Malta, we were met at arrivals and transferred to a hotel where we stayed for two nights ,before being admitted to the St James hospital in Sliema. On arrival I was taken to a private room and the operation carried out the same day. All of the staff from the wonderful surgeon – Mr Abela to the physiotherapist and the caterers – nothing was to much trouble for them. After 7days of nursing care and physio I was discharged from hospital and moved into a nearby 4star hotel where the service was again excellent for 8 nights rest and recuperation in the lovely warm Maltese sunshine, when we arrived at the airport for our journey home your representative Kevin arranged for a wheelchair and ambulift onto the plane and we were given priority for check in and boarding. I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to relatives and friends”.

“I have had the best of care both surgically & afterwards. I traveled alone but never felt isolated and knew help was only a phone call away. I’m currently saving up for more surgery. I’m so happy with results just 3 weeks after surgery. I would certainly recommend it to others and already have done. Special mention to Suzanne, Edward and Joe the driver for the ride of my life, forgot to be frightened of the operation! Also to the medical staff who felt like friends, so kind & helpful”
ROD HOLMES
NOTTINGHAM – INTRAGASTRIC BALLOON
“I found the company on the internet and was delighted when I called that I was actually dealing with someone in the UK. I needed to lose quite a bit of weight so Suzanne at Surgery In Malta recommended the intragastric balloon, not as invasive as having a band fitted (no surgery involved) but to my delight I had the same results and lost 4 stone in 6 months, I could have lost a bit more too if I’d have stuck to the eating plan properly. Everyone was so professional & so caring Thanks to everyone involved.”
